I'm in Grade 12, How am I Meant to Know What Career I Want?

As a grade 12 student, the question of what career path to pursue after high school can be daunting. The pressure to make a decision about your future can be overwhelming, but it is important to remember that this is a common feeling experienced by many students in their final year of school.

Your school will provide you with various resources and opportunities to assist you in making informed decisions about your career path. The first step is to take advantage of career counselling services available at your school. These services offer guidance and support to students in exploring different career options and help identify individual strengths and interests. Counsellors can also provide valuable information on tertiary education options and job prospects for various career paths.

Another resource available to grade 12 students is vocational education and training (VET) courses, which is what we offer here at Tactile Learning. Our courses provide practical, hands-on learning experiences in a variety of industries and can help students gain a better understanding of the skills and knowledge that might be required of them in different careers. VET courses can also lead to further education and training opportunities, including apprenticeships and traineeships.

It is also important for students to research potential careers and gain an understanding of the qualifications and experience required for each field. This can be done through online research, attending career expos and events, or speaking with professionals currently working in the industry.

While it is natural to feel uncertain about the future, it is important to remember that career paths can change over time. It is perfectly normal and widely accepted to start off in one field and switch to another later on. The important thing is to stay open-minded and take advantage of opportunities to explore different options when they present themselves.
