How do I become a Mechanic?

It can seem pretty intimidating to try and find your way into a new career path such as becoming a mechanic. The good news is, it is actually easier than you think! The simplest pathway to get your foot in the door as a mechanic in Australia is to complete a Vocational Education and Training (VET) Certificate, or apply for an apprenticeship – or, both!

Certificate II and III’s in automotive preparation cover the ins and outs of the automotive industry, providing students with the skills and knowledge they require to enter the workforce as an apprentice or in another entry-level position.

What’s great about VET courses is that they’re typically much more hands on than other options you might come across, meaning you’ll have the practical experience needed for the industry along with the understanding of the theory.

We have a range of automotive courses and workshops available here at Tactile Learning. If you’re wondering if the automotive industry is right for you, our short workshops are an excellent way to dip your toes into the industry and see if you enjoy it.

If you’re ready to commit to a full course and begin your automotive career, we offer both Certificate II’s and III’s in automotive vocational preparation. You can explore our entire automotive VET stream here. Our Certificate III allows students to complete an apprenticeship by connecting them to businesses that want to train and up-skill the next generation.

We have options available for both high school students and those out of school – get in touch with us if you’d like some more information on your course and funding options.
